The lovely Senta from Maya Company in Durban invited Shahrzad and Marshall to be her guest for the end of May 2018. We hopped onto a plane and jetted off to learn from these amazing performers.

Between us we attended all Shahrzad and Marshall’s workshops, they sold out super fast! Each workshop was a wealth of information and loads of fun. As teachers and students alike we learned so much from them.

And because a picture tells a thousand words, here are some photo snaps from our weekend!

We arrived Thursday and dropped our bags and went off to meet our amazing organizer and a few of the other dancers living in Durban for supper. Friday night was the hafla. Senta had created a “birthday song” for Shahrzad. We surprised her by getting up to dance as a flash mob! The Saturday night gala was absolutely breathtaking, we got to dance and then watch the remainder of the show. This is always a real treat!

It was a wonderful weekend, full of great food and amazing friends. The hotel was superb Breakers Resort was comfy and accommodating. Our only “bad” experience was when a window was left open by us and the monkey’s raided our food stash! The resort allowed us to book out an hour later than normal and we took the Monday morning to explore the reserve that lay next to the resort and swim in the heated outdoor pool.
