This month is full of exciting things. Our next big surprise is that we are hosting Marina “Ajsa Samia” Rehbein here in our own little city of Port Elizabeth.
Ajsa Samia was born in Pirot, Serbia and married and did her nurses training in Germany. Her love of dance started at a young age and now she teaches and dances internationally. A much sought after instructor in the art of Oriental, Gypsy and Fusion Dance.
Melanie completed her teachers’ training into 2011 with Ajsa Samia. Many South African Dancers have been mentored by Ajsa Samia, currently, she shares the majority of her time between Germany, Serbia, and South Africa.
Ajsa will be hosting two workshops here in Port Elizabeth @ the Dance Dynamics Studio in Lorraine.
- Beginner´s Oriental dance workshop – Learning this dance will help you feel like a star! Not difficult but not boring.
Although the workshop is aimed at the beginner, there will be a little something for every level of dance!
- Gypsy dance workshop – is a medley dance of Balkan and Russian Gypsy music and dance. Please bring a scarf and a tambourine. This workshop is aimed at the intermediate, advanced level of dance!
Workshops cost: R250 each
Teachers are welcome to contact us if they would like to book some one on one time with her.
This is definitely a not to be missed opportunity, we are very excited to be able to bring such an amazing teacher to our city and hope you will be joining us in making her feel welcome.
Melanie started dancing and performing for Janka’s Oriental Dance Studio in 2006. Under the mentorship of Janka Kliment, Melanie began her training to become an Oriental Dance teacher in 2008 and completed it under Asja Samia in 2011. Melanie is also a certified health and fitness instructor. Following Janka’s return to Slovakia in 2013, Melanie and Jessica chose to carry forward the vision of their friend and mentor. They purchased the studio and continue to teach the art and beauty of the dance to all aspiring belly dancers.
