At the beginner of August, we jetted off to Johannesburg to attend the Miss Belly Dance South Africa competition and festival.
We had so much fun and Jessica created a wonderful video library of the event. Which says so much more than words can about the friends we met and fun we had.
The competition provided us with the opportunity to dance for our peers and get constructive feedback, which we recieved yesterday already! Now to rewatch our video’s and apply the various suggestions and grow a little more.
On our way to the airport, on the plane and jetting off! Here we come Johannesburg.
Then it’s competition day and all the fun. From running around the back of the theatre to be able to catch the next performer after helping your bestie get ready. To meeting unexpected friends in the audience!
Oh, the excitement of actually placing, knowing that our hard work paid off. Months of sacrifice and preparation!
After a good nights rest, we head off to day 1 of amazing workshops and then home to prep for the Gala Show.
Another wonderful day of workshops with Amar and Sadie pass in a blur of exhaustion and excitement. We head back to our accommodation and get ready for the hafla. Sadly one last nights sleep and we head back to the airport and home to Port Elizabeth.
At home, we met up with the amazing Vicki from Kiekie Creative and had a few photos’s done with our certificates and trophies to commemorate the occasion.
Melanie started dancing and performing for Janka’s Oriental Dance Studio in 2006. Under the mentorship of Janka Kliment, Melanie began her training to become an Oriental Dance teacher in 2008 and completed it under Asja Samia in 2011. Melanie is also a certified health and fitness instructor. Following Janka’s return to Slovakia in 2013, Melanie and Jessica chose to carry forward the vision of their friend and mentor. They purchased the studio and continue to teach the art and beauty of the dance to all aspiring belly dancers.
